Following a successful first day as host of the Abu Dhabi Healthcare Quality Summit, Abu Dhabi cements its position globally in Healthcare Quality

4 Nov, 2019: Abu Dhabi showcased its experience in promoting a quality-based healthcare system as part of the first day of the 2019 Abu Dhabi Healthcare Quality Summit, organised by the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi (DoH). The event is taking place on 4th and 5th of November to establish Abu Dhabi's position globally on the healthcare quality map.

The summit aims to promote the role of research and innovation in improving the quality and safety of healthcare services. Additionally, it strives to encourage innovation in order to achieve sustainable healthcare by developing an action plan to overcome current challenges in the quality of healthcare services.

In the presence of H.E Mohamed Al Hameli, Undersecretary of DoH and Khalifa Mohammad Al Khaili, Director of Traffic and Patrols Directorate, the first day of the summit saw several talks, discussions and workshops that were conducted in collaboration with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). The series of activities focused on elevating the quality of healthcare and establishing a positive shift regarding healthcare services. Moreover, the various activities highlighted the necessity of improving the quality of the healthcare services currently available, as well as innovation and the quality and sustainability of government services. Another theme was the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and big data to ensure the safety and quality of the healthcare sector.  

Over the course of the two days, the summit is hosting more than 400 experts in various fields of healthcare and international heads of state from all over the world. The specialists will share their experiences, opinions and exchange recommendations related to improving quality in healthcare. The event will also help build bridges of communication between the attendees and establish cooperation in the healthcare sector.

Dr. Asma Al Mannaei, Director of Healthcare Quality Division at Department of Health Abu Dhabi said: "What we are witnessing today in Abu Dhabi is the result of a long yet rewarding journey filled with challenges, achievements, and key milestones which have contributed to the cumulative efforts in enhancing the quality of healthcare services worldwide. As host of the Summit, Abu Dhabi is proud to welcome delegates and participants from around the world to engage on the topic of healthcare quality and innovate new ways to enhance patient safety and wellbeing both in Abu Dhabi and beyond."

The Abu Dhabi Healthcare Quality Summit aims to provide a knowledge platform for innovative ideas while bringing together leading healthcare professionals to support joint efforts to improve healthcare quality amongst communities.
