Department of Health - Abu Dhabi participates in GITEX 2019

6 Oct, 2019: The Department of Health - Abu Dhabi (DOH) is participating in the 39th GITEX Technology Week alongside other governmental entities at the Abu Dhabi Government pavilion, in addition to participating in GITEX Future Stars 2019, where it will showcase a number of its latest technology and artificial intelligence projects that promote community health in the Emirate.

H.E. Mohamed Hamad Al Hameli, Undersecretary of the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi, said that the Abu Dhabi Government pavilion is an important and pivotal platform to highlight the achievements of digital transformation in the Emirate, as digital transformation is playing a role in enhancing the efficiency of government performance and improving the experience of community members.

H.E. added: "Abu Dhabi believes in the importance of uniting efforts and strengthening cooperation and partnerships between the public and private sectors, as well as moving forward by achieving integration and harmony between them both. In the health sector, we are keen to strengthen cooperation with public and private institutions, locally, regionally and globally, in order to build on the excellent infrastructure of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and further enhance the quality and accessibility of services. Given the importance of using technology and innovation to further improve healthcare, we also provide platforms that embrace and encourage innovation."

As part of its participation, the Department will highlight the 'My Health Coach' app, which is an interactive digital platform based on AI technology that provides useful and personalized tips and guidance available in both Arabic and English.

The Department will also review its Istijaba E-Programme, which is the first of its kind in the Middle East. This system can provide real-time reports on health resources in the emirate, including the occupancy rates of beds in health facilities, and the availability of medical specialties, which contributes to ensuring that appropriate action is taken to deal with various emergencies.

DoH is sharing the latest developments related to its AI Lab and its latest achievements in building DOH employees' capabilities to innovate as well as work on smart solutions based on new and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and genetics.

As part of the government's clear guidelines to promote e-services and smart services, the Department will  highlight the auto-approval project for birth certificates, in order to facilitate the procedures for customers and reduce their journey to obtaining a birth certificate.

This is done by linking data between Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship and the Department of Health, where documents and data are automatically read through the ID card to verify their authenticity through the electronic link system with the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship. Once the data is confirmed, the birth certificate is automatically approved.

DOH is a supporter of the Supernova Challenge in the healthcare sector and one of the institutions participating in the HealthCare Innovation Cup.

The Department of Health is part of the Abu Dhabi Government stand, along with 32 government and academic entities, to showcase innovative digital solutions and technologies to enhance government performance and ensure Abu Dhabi's leadership in this area.
