Department of Health – Abu Dhabi launches ‘NEXT GENERATION NURSES’ programme

5 May, 2021: The Department of Health - Abu Dhabi, is gearing up to launch a new educational programme titled ‘Next Generation Nurses’. Aimed at nursing professionals in the Emirate, the initiative seeks to upskill nurses and enhance their capabilities, enabling them to provide world-class healthcare services, in line with the latest international practices, to drive success in the sector.

The new programme is set to commence in June 2021, where the first batch of 250 nurses will follow an intensive training course through four different stages. For each phase passed, participating nurses will receive a special badge identifying their classification as per the following order: a qualified nurse, an experienced nurse, a professional nurse, and a distinguished nurse.

The program will be implemented in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Health Services Company “SEHA”, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Zayed Military Hospital, Fatima College of Health Sciences, Mediclinic Middle East, VPS Healthcare and NMC Healthcare.

Dr. Rashed Al Suwaidi, the Executive Director of Healthcare Workforce Planning at Department of Health Abu Dhabi said: “Medical education is a key element of DoH’s strategy, and the launch of ‘Nurses of the Future’ Program strongly reflects DoH’s ambition to provide world-class health services in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in line with the highest global standards and best practices, and in collaboration with our partners.”

“The ‘Nurses of the Future’ program is an investment in aspiring nurses in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It aims to boost the nurses’ clinical and nursing care skills, who play an extremely vital role as they represent a percentage of 52% all healthcare professionals working within the Emirate. The program will also provide them with the necessary support to master the art of communication and polish their skills in nursing care across all levels, by offering them a supportive environment for professional growth.” Al Suwaidi added.

The ‘Nurses of the Future’ programme is expected to benefit over 15000 nurses working in the Emirate's health sector.
