Licensing Criteria
for Physician Sub-Specialty
Guidance aims to ensure consistency, fairness and proportionality in our approach to making decisions in licensing procedures
Sub-specialty clinical programs
Qualification/Certification:
- Recognized sub-specialty titles as listed in the PQR
- Recognized main specialty qualification as per the PQR followed by a 1 to 2 years recognized structured clinical hands-on training/ fellowship in accordance to the program standards.
- Physicians with Board certifications shall deduct 1 year from the experience requirements
- This criteria is applicable to all Clinical academic training programs in any country listed in the PQR
Experience Requirements for Sub-specialties Licensure
- Experience shall counted after obtaining the sub-specialty training completion certificate
- Non- UAE nationals must fulfill the experience requirements in their main specialty prior applying for sub-specialty titles.

Recognized sub-specialty qualifications shall follow the experience requirements
- Current cases of UAE nationals applied for consultant posts till end of May 2020 and have obtained one year experience must obtain the consultant posts in their sub-specialty
- Attached criteria shall be applied on all new applications submitted from June 2020.
