Health Authority - Abu Dhabi Launches Health Insurance Products Search Engine

Engineer Zaid AL Siksek, CEO of HAAD said: “providing affordable access to quality healthcare is one of our main objectives at HAAD, the launch of the health insurance products search engine is a tool that provides a new level of transparency about accredited insurance products and enables customers to make well informed choices.”

The launch of the health insurance products search engine fully supports HAAD’s priority in its strategic plan for 2010 - 2014 to create customer transparency.

Dr. Finn Goldner, Director of Health System Financing said: “The health insurance search engine will help consumers find the health insurance they need, whether it will be individuals looking for private insurance for their families or small businesses, employees wanting to know more about the coverage options available or HR managers searching for the right package to offer to their employees; and best of all it is easy to use and completely free.”

The public can search for basic, visitor, or enhanced, insurance products by choosing annual health insurance coverage, type of inpatient room, maternity coverage, outpatient fees for general practitioners and specialists visits, and medicine coverage on local and international levels. Furthermore, the search engine allows the user to enter a key word to search for a specific health treatment that is normally offered by a limited number of insurance companies.

Currently there are 35 insurance companies competing for 1.9 million enhanced and basic product members.

Earlier this year, HAAD launched the Abu Dhabi Electronic Physician Directory http://www.haad.ae/ADPD , in a step towards improving public accessibility to healthcare through providing periodically updated information on licensed physicians in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
